Bergoglio Films presents: ‘Un-defining’

The internet is seething with commentaries about the so-called Pope-videos, which no doubt fill the emptiness of those minds which only react in a positive manner to musical stimulus. To such individuals, the videos offer the complacent impression that ‘without a doubt, love triumphs over all’ (Francis’ words in his first video). We would like to share with such people certain statements made by Pope Benedict at the beginning of his pontificate; he clearly indicated that all the faithful are under the guardianship of Peter, Vicar of Jesus Christ… not of Buddha or Allah.

In his homily at the beginning of the Petrine Ministry, in Saint Peter Square on Sunday April 24, 2005, Benedict XVI affirmed:

iniciopontificadoHere I want to add something: both the image of the shepherd and that of the fisherman issue an explicit call to unity. “I have other sheep that are not of this fold; I must lead them too, and they will heed my voice. So there shall be one flock, one shepherd” (Jn 10:16); these are the words of Jesus at the end of his discourse on the Good Shepherd. And the account of the 153 large fish ends with the joyful statement: “although there were so many, the net was not torn” (Jn 21:11). Alas, beloved Lord, with sorrow we must now acknowledge that it has been torn! But no – we must not be sad! Let us rejoice because of your promise, which does not disappoint, and let us do all we can to pursue the path towards the unity you have promised. Let us remember it in our prayer to the Lord, as we plead with him: yes, Lord, remember your promise. Grant that we may be one flock and one shepherd! Do not allow your net to be torn, help us to be servants of unity!’(Benedict XVI. Homily at the beginning of his Pontificate, April 24, 2005)

Francis’ most adamant defenders, finding fewer and fewer ways to support him, are holding out in the last trenches: ‘Now that all the Catholics have abandoned him, we will be faithful until the end’, they say…not with solid arguments, but rather with unconvincing slogans.

The problem is that the very Bishop of Rome seems to progressively destroy his own defences, for by clashing with certain key dogmatic truths head on, he ends up bringing them back to the memory of all. Thanks to him, some of these truths now enjoy full circulation on-line, such as this citation of Pius XI from the Mortalium Animos (no. 2) which seems to hold the winning place at the moment: In this document, the Pope warns:

For since they hold it for certain that men destitute of all religious sense are very rarely to be found, they seem to have founded on that belief a hope that the nations, although they differ among themselves in certain religious matters, will without much difficulty come to agree as brethren in professing certain doctrines, which form as it were a common basis of the spiritual life.”

For Pius XI, the truth must be defined. Therefore, he continued to make it clear that such initiatives:

can nowise be approved by Catholics, founded as they are on that false opinion which considers all religions to be more or less good and praiseworthy, since they all in different ways manifest and signify that sense which is inborn in us all, and by which we are led to God and to the obedient acknowledgment of His rule.”

Francis’ affirmation that we are all children of God’ (words from the first video message) resumes the message he is trying to get across, and contrasts sharply with the Catechism, which affirms, on the contrary, that we are children of God only by Baptism (no. 1265).

Likewise, we also have studies on his video on “Respect for Woman” (see: A new video, and new profanations…); on his third video (see: The Pope’s latest video… is it Catholic?) and so on. Particular feedback was received by us regarding our study on the Pope-video on the cultures of the indigenous peoples (see: Ill-intentioned intentions)

Though some initially thought that the Denzinger-Bergoglio seemed too pessimistic, many are now changing their opinion and agreeing with us, due to the very persistence of Francis himself in ‘un-defining’ that which the Church has already defined.

This is demonstrated through our studies, the most complete that we know of to date, with 154 doctrines of the Magisterium contrasted with Francis’ absurd doctrines.

The web is wagering about the content of Francis’ next multi-media messages. Will it be some new negation of the doctrine of the Church? Will we arrive at number 200 of our list of studies?

The only thing that would surprise us now, would be if Francis abandoned the path clearly marked out by his agenda of ‘un-defining’. May God help his Church!

Francis, bishop of the Lutherans

I think that the intentions of Martin Luther were not mistaken. He was a reformer. Perhaps some methods were not correct. But in that time, if we read the story of the Pastor, a German Lutheran who then converted when he saw reality – he became Catholic – in that time, the Church was not exactly a model to imitate. There was corruption in the Church, there was worldliness, attachment to money, to power…and this he protested. Then he was intelligent and took some steps forward justifying, and because he did this. And today Lutherans and Catholics, Protestants, all of us agree on the doctrine of justification. On this point, which is very important, he did not err. He made a medicine for the Church, but then this medicine consolidated into a state of things, into a state of a discipline, into a way of believing, into a way of doing, into a liturgical way and he wasn’t alone; there was Zwingli, there was Calvin, each one of them different, and behind them were who? Principals! We must put ourselves in the story of that time. It’s a story that’s not easy to understand, not easy. Then things went forward, and today the dialogue is very good. That document of justification I think is one of the richest ecumenical documents in the world, one in most agreement. But there are divisions, and these also depend on the Churches. In Buenos Aires there were two Lutheran churches, and one thought in one way and the other…even in the same Lutheran church there was no unity; but they respected each other, they loved each other, and the difference is perhaps what hurt all of us so badly and today we seek to take up the path of encountering each other after 500 years. I think that we have to pray together, pray. Prayer is important for this. Second, to work together for the poor, for the persecuted, for many people, for refugees, for the many who suffer; to work together and pray together and the theologians who study together try…but this is a long path, very long. One time jokingly I said: I know when full unity will happen. – “when?” – “the day after the Son of Man comes,” because we don’t know…the Holy Spirit will give the grace, but in the meantime, praying, loving each other and working together. Above all for the poor, for the people who suffer and for peace and many things…against the exploitation of people and many things in which they are jointly working together. Not even is his worst delusions, Luther would have imagined that the Church he insulted as a “diabolical institution”, “diabolical scum of Rome” or the “great prostitute of Babylon”, would offer glory and recognition in the twenty-first century. This is the “thank you”, whom the Lutherans offered Francis, during his visit to the Protestant community of Rome, happily affirming: “For us Lutherans in Rome, Francis is our bishop” (Aleteia).

Before considering the consistent teachings of Lutheranism, let us remember the condemnations of the Council of Trent on the Doctrine of Justification.

1558 Dz 818 Can. 8. If anyone shall say that the fear of hell, whereby by grieving for sins we flee to the mercy of God or refrain from sinning, is a sin or makes sinners worse: let him be anathema [cf. n. 798].

1560 Dz 820 Can. 10. If anyone shall say that men are justified without the justice of Christ by which He merited for us, or that by that justice itself they are formally just: let him be anathema [cf. n. 798, 799].

1561 Dz 821 Can. 11. If anyone shall say that men are justified either by the sole imputation of the justice of Christ, or by the sole remission of sins, to the exclusion of grace and charity, which is poured forth in their hearts by the Holy Spirit and remains in them, or even that the grace by which we are justified is only the favor of God: let him be anathema [cf. n. 799ff., 809].

If anyone shall say that because of this Catholic doctrine of justification as set forth by the holy Synod in this present decree, there is in some degree a detraction from the glory of God or from the merits of Jesus Christ our Lord, and that the truth of our faith, and in fact the glory of God and of Jesus Christ are not rather rendered illustrious: let him be anathema [cf. n. 810]
